BENIN CITY ––Edo State Under 17 youth teams will converge in the state capital tomorrow to partake in the maiden edition of Osas Motors Cup tournament.

Cup donor and sponsor, Mr. Ada Godspower Osas, MD, Osas Motors, a sports-loving transporter who said he has been into sports since his youth is often not happy that our youths roam the streets and indulge in vices inimical to the growth of society and this informed the introduction of Osas Motors Cup tournament.

Mr. Osas told OBSERVERsports “I have been sports-loving since my youth. Looking at the nooks and crannies of Edo State today football talent abound. But these talents are not properly tapped hence they indulge in social vices. So in a bid to keep the youth busy I felt a football tournament could be one of the avenues to assist them hence I donated a cup for competition among Under 17 youth in Edo State”.

The Osas Motors tourney which kicks off here tomorrow no doubt will produce more hidden talent that can easily be groomed to become future Eagles of Nigeria.

According to Mr. Osas, “A tournament like this is a stepping stone or rather a foundation towards hitting national limelight in football. Great ex-internationals like Austin Okocha, Austin Eguaevoen, Samson Siasia, Jossy Dombraye, Segun Odegbami and a host of others began their football career from the youth level and today have reached soccer pinnacle as they now share their experience with up and coming young players.
