Shanghai (China) - Dream Team IV’s forward Osaze Odemwingie yesterday in Shanghai said he and his teammates had the confidence to win the men’s football event gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.
“We have the confidence to win the gold medal for Africa, no matter the team we are meeting,’’ he said after their 4-1 semi-final win over Belgium.
Nigeria will meet Argentina in the final on Saturday. The Argentines pummelled Brazil traditional rivals, Brazil, 3-0 in the second semi-final.
“It does feel good to win a medal, but I do think we have all it takes to win the gold medal. We have the chance to be number one, because we deserve it,’’ Odemwingie said.
The forward, who plays for Russian clubside Lokomotiv Moscow, said the Dream Team IV would be spurred on by the support of all Africans.
