PORT-HACOURT- Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi has in Port Harcourt advised newly sworn in special advisers to see their appointment as a call to service and avoid competing with commissioners.
Amaechi, who gave the advice at the swearing-in ceremony, urged the new appointees to collaborate with the commissioners with whom they share portfolios and work with them as a team in the interest of the state.
The governor restated the need to move the state forward, pointing out that the best option was to set attainable objectives and work towards achieving them.
“We have a responsibility to deliver service, and the essential reason for appointing you is service delivery.
Amaechi said the people of Rivers state had been disappointed in the past by activities of public officers and urged the new advisers not to let the people down.
“You see how long it took us to make up our mind on who qualifies and who does not. It was not an easy decision to make,” he said.
The special advisers are Messrs Okey Amadi, Nwankwo Nwankwo, Mr. Austin Nwako, Briggs Kuro-Tamuno, Batom Mitee, Augustine Ngo, Oke Okiri, Eldred Braide and Ahamefula Elemaya.
Others are Messrs Dickson Egbule-Umunakwe, Rowland Odoyi, Sam Etetegwung, Williams Echendu-Igwe and Mrs. Chituru Amadi.
