BENIN CITY - Edo State government has said it will create a conducive atmosphere to stimulate the potentials of youths to enable them play an active role in the task of rebuilding.
Head Of Service, Edo State, Dr. Simeon Imuekemhe disclosed this while playing host to the state executive council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria at Government House Benin – City, yesterday.
Dr. Imuekemhe said the present administration acknowledged the potential and role of youths in nation building, hence efforts must be intensified to integrate them in ongoing re-engineering of various sectors of the economy of the state.
The Head Of Service congratulated the council for subjecting itself to democratic process, through the successful conduct of elections which ushered in the present executive.
He charged the various voluntary organisations, to fuse into the National Youth Council, to impact discipline and moral values on their members to serve as a catalyst in sanitizing the society.
He commended the present leadership of the council in Edo State for piloting the affairs of youths with high sense of responsibility and stressed the need to always employ dialogue as the best option to resolving conflicts.
Dr. Imuekemhe assured that the present administration would tackle unemployment which remains the main reason for youths involvement in social vices which he said had assumed a worrisome dimension.
Earlier, the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, Comrade Sidney Osawaru, said since his assumption of office, various steps had been taken to re-define the focus of youths in society.
Comrade Osawaru commended the Head Of Service for acting as a vital tool of reviving the state civil service through computerization, provision of utility vehicles which had surpassed the achievements of his predecessors.
The courtesy call was witnessed by the Vice-Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in charge of the three senatorial visits in Edo State.
