Housewife Held For Allegedly Stabbing Husband To Death

A 36-year old house wife, Remilekan Badmus, was on Thursday detained at the Mushin Police station for allegedly stabbing her husband to death.

The mother of three was said to have stabbed her husband, Hakeem Badmus, on the neck on Wednesday during a fight.

It was learnt that the victim, a 38 year old man, was taken to a nearby hospital by neighbours but was later confirmed dead.

According to a police source, the woman claimed that her deceased husband was fond of beating her after smoking Indian hemp.

The source said the woman also claimed that her husband threatened to kill her with the same knife that she eventually used in stabbing him. Newsmen also learnt that the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) had difficulty in depositing the corpse at a public mortuary.

The corpse was rejected at the mortuaries, following a recent law enacted by the state government. The law, made it difficult for the corpses of those who died or were killed in their houses to be deposited at any public mortuary other than the Ikeja General Hospital mortuary.

It was also learnt that when the IPO finally took the corpse to the Ikeja General Hospital Mortuary, the hospital rejected it on the excuse that they had about 47 similar cases there. Confirming the incident, Police spokesman in Lagos, Frank Mba said the case was being investigated, adding that the corpse had been deposited at a public mortuary.
