Occupying Youths with meaningful programmes all year round has been identified as one factor that can keep the Nigerian youth from crime and social vices.
Hon. Johnbul Emmanuel Ojo, Chairman Oshiomwon Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria disclosed this to Weekend Observer recently
He said nothing will go wrong with the youth when they are occupied with vocational skills and other meaningful ventures adding that with this the youth will in return impact on the to older ones in their various communities.
The youth chairman commended the effort of the Orhionmwon Local Government Council Chairman Hon. Patrick Asiem for his effort in empowering the Youth in the Local Government Area and also for bringing the activities of the youth council into limelight in the Area, stressing that before the coming into office of the present Chairman Administration nothing was heard of the Youth council in the Area.
He advised the youth not to take violence as a means of demanding for their rights rather, they should . take to dialogue which is the best option.
Hon. Ojo further called on all Community Youth Chairman in Orhionmwon Local Government Area to Associate with Apex body on Youth matters at the council secretariat at Abudu for positive result
Meanwhile, this year’s youth week of the National youth Council of Nigerian Orhionmwon Local Government chapter will kick off on Wednesday 20th August 2008.
A release issued by the youth chairman Hon. (J) Emmanuel Ojo stated that activities lined up for this year include seminars, rally, National Rebirth&Cultural re awakening for the Youth of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, and march past of schools and voluntary organization in the Area.Topics to be discussed at the Seminar will include:- Youth Restiveness, Cultism a social vice to the youth, Youth and Democracy, and there should be no violence but dialogue when demanding for their rights.
Hon. Johnbul Emmanuel Ojo called on all youths in the Area to come out and identify with this year’s youth week at Abuda, the Administrative Headquarter of the local Government council.
