By THOMPSON ERHOMONSELE

BENIN CITY- Edo State Acting Governor, Mr. Lucky Imasuen has advised women to focus on the education of their female children and wards in order to save them from the danger of female trafficking and prostitution.

He gave the advice when the executive members of Edo State Market Women Association paid him a courtesy visit in Benin City yesterday.

Mr. Imasuen explained that in addition to education, the state government was also equipping Skills Acquisition centres in the state to empower the youths with various skills to be self – reliant economically, pointing out that the administration of Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor in the state had plans to reach the market women through micro credit loans facility.

The acting governor advised the market women to sell their wares in the market and avoid selling at road sides, saying such would help to keep the streets clean.

While emphasising that the state government had already done a lot in fulfilling the electioneering promises to develop all sectors of the economy, by Prof. Osunbor, the acting governor thanked the market women for their support to the state government and urged them to sustain the efforts.

Earlier, the Secretary General of Edo State Women Market Association, Mrs. Josephine Omoregie had commended the governor for his developmental strides in the state.

She requested for the provision of an 18 – seater bus, appointment of some of the association’s members into boards, sponsorship to pilgrimage and provision of micro credit loans.
