World Bank delivers GIS equipment to Edo Govt

 

BENIN CITY ––Edo State Government has taken delivery of Geographic Information System (GIS) Equipment donated by the World Bank Community-Based Urban Development Project.


The state Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Imasuen received the items yesterday in Benin City on behalf of the state government, at a brief ceremony held at the Conference Hall, office of the Deputy Governor, Government House.


Mr. Imasuen expressed gratitude to the World Bank for the donation which he said had further cemented the relationship between the state and the world body.


The deputy governor remarked that the Geographic Information System would help in the geological survey for the good of the people of the state.


Earlier, the state Project Director of World Bank Community-Based Urban Development Project, Mr. Charles Odigie, explained that some workers in Edo State were trained on the operation of the Geographic Information System.


Mr. Odigie pointed out that the equipment which include computer, digital survey equipment, scientific monitor and relative software, would be used to update information on the state including number of houses in the state capital.


The project director added that the equipment would enhance revenue generation, development planning and drawing up of master plan.
