BDA tasks wealthy Edos on investment

LAGOS - A group of Edo State indigenes under the aegis of Bini Descendants Association, Lagos, has implored wealthy indigenes of the state to join hands with the state government in improving the economy of the state by investing in the state.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos , the spokesman of the Association, Mr. Mack Ogbamosa, deplored the current exploitation of the youths in the state by unscrupulous elements who take advantage of the unemployment situation to engage the youths in social vices.

Dwelling on political developments in the state, the group implored political leaders in the state to rally round the administration of the State Governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, in his laudable efforts geared towards revamping the state.

Commending the Governor for changing the face of the state through provision of infrastructure, the association said it was in the interest of the state for the elite to come together for the common purpose of reviving the fortunes of the state.

The association also charged the government to build on the cultural heritage of the state by making the teaching of Bini and other indigenous languages compulsory in schools.

“The rich cultural heritage of the state should not be allowed to die.  It should instead be played up by making the teaching of Bini and other indigenous languages in the state compulsory in schools”, the association said.
