Lafia - King Osanga, a member of Nigeria’s victorious Golden Eaglets to last year’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup, has signed a two-year contract with Spain’s Athletico Madrid.
Osanga told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia that he was satisfied with the terms of the contract, which he did not disclose.
“This contract is a dream come true for me and I know that the future is certainly bright.
“I am very happy to have attracted the attention of the management of a big club like Athletico Madrid,’’ the player said. He urged young players aspiring to make football a career to be dedicated, patient and focused as it was the only way they could acheive their dreams.
Osanga lauded the Nigeria’s Premier League for the abundant talents playing in the various clubs and the technical expertise of the coaches. He, however, deplored the state of facilities, which he said was the bane of the league in the country.
He said he was in possession of the house President Umaru Yar’Adua gave to members of the team following their victory in South Korea last year.
“President Yar’Adua is a man of his words, I can confirm to you that the Certificate of Occupancy to my house in Abuja is with me,’’ he said.
He called on corporate organisations to contribute to the development of the national league through sponsorships.
